I recently installed the Wibiya toolbar on the twenty or so most-visited pages on my site, as a test of its usefulness. Whereas my regular toolbar has to be downloaded by the user, the Wibiya toolbar automatically slides up at the bottom of specially coded pages (after the page loads, so that access time is unaffected). Unlike the regular toolbar, which provides more or less direct access to every page on the site and to hundreds of external links, the Wibiya toolbar is primarily a social networking tool (although it does include a handy "translate this page" button); but in the limited time it has been installed, it has proven a popular way to let others know about the pages in question, as evidenced by the fact that it has been used for several hundred 'interactions' of one sort or another.
Minimizing the Wibiya Toolbar
Unfortunately, despite its advantages, the Wibiya bar does have a downside. Namely, it does not lie quietly at the bottom of the page, but includes a slide-up note on the left side that suggests installing my regular toolbar (a result of Wibiya being a subsidiary of the company that provides my toolbar). I find this distracting, and presume it may also be distracting to others visiting the site. However, this can be disabled by clicking the "minimize toolbar" button at its far right; once that is done, the toolbar is still available (by clicking the button again), but is otherwise completely inert and invisible.
